Newborn after water birth - Sound Birth Services, Comox Valley

At Sound Birth Services we are committed to providing warm, professional guidance and support to families during pregnancy, birth and postpartum, for a healthy and happy transition into parenthood.  We are certified and experienced to provide you and your family with the best of care and practices, with expert doula and lactation services, sound childbirth education classes, and social and emotional support throughout it all.

We believe that the experience of birth and the early postpartum days has a deep impact on a family's well-being in the postpartum period and beyond.  Creating positive-feeling birth outcomes allows the opportunity for personal growth and set's families and individuals up for success in becoming valuable members of society.

Our prenatal classes provide evidence based information and tools for you to prepare for your birth with confidence. We advocate for informed decision making, and are committed to educated, skilled,  and nurturing care.

For every person who desires to breast/chest feed, we provide education, skills and support in having a positive and joyful experience.  We encourage all expectant parents to breast/chest feed and endorse the WHO-UNICEF's 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding to promote baby-friendly hospitals. Personal lactation counselling is available through video chat or at your home with proper COVID-19 protection in place.

As of June 10, 2020, Doulas in the Vancouver Island Health Authority region are once again permitted to attend hospital births at the Comox Valley and Campbell River Hospitals. Depending on your preference we provide virtual or socially distant prenatal visits and in-person labour support at your home or hospital. Doulas are fully vaccinated and will wear Personal Protective Equipment and practice proper hand hygiene to keep families and themselves safe. If you have been out of the country or are feeling unwell, please let your doula know in order make appropriate arrangements of care.

We respectfully acknowledge the priviledge we have in living, working and playing on the unceded traditional territory of the K’òmoks First Nation (Puntledge, E'iksan, & K'òmoks)
