Breastfeeding Counselor Services
A lactation counselor (breastfeeding counselor) provides people with support when they are having difficulties breastfeeding or chestfeeding their baby. Lactation counselors have received specialized training in understanding lactation and counseling skills and can help with such things as:
Preparing for breastfeeding during pregnancy
Addressing latch issues and nipple pain
Overcoming mastitis and clogged ducts
Address supply issues
Support in expressing milk
Feeding Multiples or in tandem with an older child
I am currently in the process of becoming certified as a Breastfeeding Counselor with Childbirth International and am providing breastfeeding support free of charge while I complete the practical portion of the course. To find out how I can support you in your breastfeeding journey, please contact me.
Breastfeeding Support Goup
Breastfeeding support groups are held on the second Friday of each month throughout the winter, January to May, 2020 at Vancouver Island Regional Library - Courtenay Branch from 12pm-2pm. There is no meeting in April due to Good Friday.
Parents-to-be and breastfeeding parents are welcome to attend on a drop-in basis, free of charge. The meetings provide a safe space to express concerns and frustrations or joys and triumphs with a Certified Birth Doula and Breastfeeding Counselor Student. Topics will vary each week but will also allow time for parents to have group conversations or receive one-on-one support and help with Pamela in whatever challenges or curiosities they are facing at the time.
No April date due to Good Friday
